Emile Henry's French-made oval dishes are often referred to a Au Gratin dishes. The word Gratin originated in French cuisine and it refers to food, frequently potatoes, that feature a creamy sauce and browned crust of bread crumbs, grated cheese and butter. Au Gratin is usually prepared in a shallow dish so there is a lot of crust with each bite.
These oval shaped baking dishes are perfect for side dishes of Au Gratin or roasted vegetables, fruit crumbles and cheesy casseroles. The 10.5-inch x 7-inch size is ideal for single serving entrees or small sides to share.
